Trini Woman Is Lone Survivor In Libya Terrorist Attack

Trinidad and Tobago national, Sta­cy Archie was the lone sur­vivor of a ter­ror­ist car bomb­ing at­tack that happened  in Libya on Sat­ur­day. Archie  a for­mer mem­ber if the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice cur­rent­ly serves as a UN Se­cu­ri­ty Of­fi­cer. She is the sis­ter of T&T's ACP Joanne Archie. Her  Caribbean colleague a Ja­maican na­tion­al did not survive the bombing. He has been iden­ti­fied as Clive Peck, whose Linkedin ac­count lists him as a UN field ser­vice of­fi­cer. He was re­port­ed­ly a for­mer mem­ber of the Ja­maica Con­stab­u­lary Force. The oth­er two were Se­niloli Tabu­atau­sole of Fi­ji and Hus­sein El­had­er of Libya. 

Ac­cord­ing to the As­so­ci­at­ed Press, health of­fi­cials said the blast took place out­side Arkan Mall in the Hawari neigh­bor­hood, where peo­ple were gath­er­ing for shop­ping a day be­fore the Eid al-Ad­ha hol­i­day be­gins. The Beng­hazi mu­nic­i­pal coun­cil re­port­ed­ly said the at­tack tar­get­ed a con­voy for the UN Sup­port Mis­sion in Libya.

The site of the at­tack is close to of­fices of the mis­sion in Libya. The blast wound­ed nine peo­ple, ac­cord­ing to health of­fi­cials who spoke on con­di­tion of anonymi­ty be­cause they were not au­tho­rized to brief re­porters.
