Artist Profile: Patrice Roberts
Patrice Roberts (born on April 11, 1985) is a Trinidadian musical artiste strongly associated with the Soca music genre. She was born and raised in the far north east village of Toco in the twin island island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Patrice who has been coined with the nickname 'Patsy' by her fans got her breakthrough into Soca mainstream popularity in 2005 with
a collaborative hit song 'The Islands' with
Soca star Bunji Garlin. It was her smooth vocals that got her the immediate attention that many artistes desired.

It was in 2006 shortly after breaking into the spotlight she became one of the frontline artistes for then popular soca band HD (Formerly Xtatik). Her alliance with HD lead artiste and soca icon Machel Montano, soca star Farmer Nappy and well known writer Kernal Roberts helped established her presence in the soca industry. During her time with HD she released popular soca hits "Sugar Boy" and "Thunder Waist". She collaborated with Machel to release hit tunes "Tempa Wine" and 2006 Trinidad Road March winner "Band Of The Year" during her time with HD band. There is no doubting her significant contribution to the band's dominance during this era in soca music. She later left the band in 2014 to pursue a solo career in soca.
As a solo artiste Patsy quickly rose to stardom and remained one of the dominant female vocalists in the industry. Releasing multiple groovy soca and power soca hits year after year and headlining major shows around the world. Furthermore, in recent years Patsy has publicly became the feminist voice for women in the industry. With her 2017 release "Big Girl Now" she sought to amplify the acceptance of authority for women through her music.
