Outside Carnival Season, There Has Been More Soca On Trinidad Radio

If You Don't Play Enough Soca All Year, We Know Where To Go Online

As Soca music continue to grow around the world and at home in Trinidad and Tobago. More people are seeking out Soca online and are ready to download their favourite tunes for their own listening pleasure. With this new revolution of going online for new and classic Soca gradually picking up steam, Soca fans are now insisting for more Soca to be played on radio when they do turn in to their favourite mainstream radio channels. In return the radio stations have responded by giving the people what they want, More Sokah!

As this pro-active desire for the music grows, the popular local radio stations are now forced to respond by changing their seasonal mindsets. The radio stations have been conditioned to Soca fans being reactive instead of pro-active. This means they are used to having fans wait for  them (the radio disc jockeys) to play the Soca hits and classics when Carnival season arrives. However in recent years in this new digital world we live in today we see a growing trend of Soca lovers (especially among younger Soca lovers) venturing online to seek and download Soca at any time of the year. Most Soca lovers going to Spotify or their favourite social media platform Soca Music Tv. This forces the radio to change their seasonal attitude if they want to remain relevant among the young fraction of music lovers in Trinidad and Tobago.

However as we said earlier, there has been more Soca given to the fans by radio stations. We at Soca Music Tv have noticed in recent years more Soca music have been playing on radio airwaves outside T&T Carnival season, and we have seen a gradual increase for this year 2020, where a lot of Soca continue to be played on air since the end of 2020 Carnival season in February. We give credit to the Soca lovers in the twin island Republic T&T for this forced change in the seasonal mindset go T&T radio which many believed in the past could have never happened.
