Artist Profile: Nailah Blackman
Nailah Blackman (born on 02nd December 1997) is a Trinidadian musical artiste strongly associated with the Soca music genre. She was born in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago and is the grand daughter of the man widely acknowledged to be the founding father of Soca music Ras Shorty (Garfield Blackman). She is also the daughter of Calypsonian Abbi Blackman.
Nailah was born in a family of many local musicians, and grew up
influenced by the traditional sounds of Soca and Calypso. At the tender age of six she entered her first Calypso competition and at the age of eleven she began her professional career.
Her breakthrough in Soca mainstream popularity came in late 2016 when she released popular Soca song "Work Out" alongside Soca superstar Kes during Trinidad's 2017 Carnival season.
Since then she has given Soca lovers around the world a multiple hit songs. Some of them are More Sokah x Iron Love x Bam Bam Season x Sokah x Games.

Nailah's versatility has led her to achieve cross genre success. In 2019 she collaborated with Jamaican dancehall star Shenseea to release "We Ready" a dancehall influenced soca hit. But her biggest hit to date is "Baila Mami" a heavily Pop/House music influenced Soca hit song.
