Soca fans around the world will breathe a sigh of relief after learning that veteran Soca singer Dexter “Blaxx” Stewart is improving slowly in hospital.
According to a Trinidad Newsday report, Blaxx was admitted to a private healthcare facility again on Tuesday with lung and kidney issues. He recently had surgery for an undisclosed illness.
His manager Giselle Gellineau-Penrose said Blaxx is a fighter, the medication is taking its course and so too will the healing process.
She added the response was overwhelming to the GoFundMe set up for the singer.
In WhatsApp messages to Newsday on Thursday she said, “I am very happy about the awesome support and love Blaxx is receiving from all over the world.”
When Newsday checked the GoFundMe page on Thursday afternoon, it showed US$ 10,356 had been raised so far of the US$30,000 goal.
Soca Music Tv had joined many fans around the world in praying for Blaxx after his manager Gellineau-Penrose made an appeal, as she said Blaxx needed “lots and lots of prayers.”
