18 - 18 DEADLOCK! ~ August 28th, 2002

On August 28, 2002, the House of Representatives in Trinidad and Tobago Parliament (Red House) met to attempt to elect a Speaker following the 18-18 deadlock of the election of December 2001. The House previously met on April 5 and 6, 2002 but was unable to elect a Speaker after two consecutive days of attempts.
After the House again attempted and failed to elect a Speaker, the Prime Minister, Patrick Manning advised the President to dissolve Parliament and make way for a General Election on October 7, 2002. See video below
